US AES SET TO BUILD SOLAR POWER PLANT NEAR BULGARIA'S SILISTRA
The US company AES Solar is going to build a 80 MW photovoltaic park in the Bulgarian village of Polkovnik Lambrinovo, near the Danube city of Silistra.
The company has requested a 35-year-long license from the Bulgarian State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation and the request will be decided on on Tuesday, according to the Commission's website.
The park will be built in 2 stages with a 2012 deadline for the project completion. 64 MW will be launched during the first stage.
A preliminary contract for the purchase of the electric power produced by the photovoltaic park has already been signed with the State regulator.
The park is the second project of the US company in Bulgaria. The first one was a wind park near the villages of Balgarevo and Poruchik Chunchevo close to the Black Sea town of Kavarna.
