A new tax for deposit of waste will be presented in the middle of next year for all regions. It is provided for in the Waste Regulation Act which was approved yesterday by the government.
The tax is per ton deposited waste and is an additional waste expense for municipalities. It is planned to function as an incentive for reducing the quantity of waste that is deposited in waste depots through construction of waste processing plants. The goal is to prolong the life of existing and future waste depots and to encourage recycling and waste procession.
